01

How we work

4 questions

How does your audit-led approach work?

Everything starts with the free audit, not a sales pitch. We check your current site, show you exactly what is helping and what is holding it back, and put a clear cost against each fix. From there you decide what to do: a few targeted fixes, a full optimisation, or nothing at all. We only recommend work the audit can justify, so you are spending money on problems you can actually see. Findings first, then the fix.

What is the free website audit, and is it really free?

Yes, it is free with no obligation. You get a written, plain-English report on your current website: what is working, what is not, and what it would cost to fix. No sales script, no upsell, no pressure to proceed. If the report tells you to do nothing, that is a perfectly good outcome.

What exactly do I get in the free audit?

A written, plain-English report on your site, with an overall score out of 10 and your issues listed worst-first. For each finding you get what is wrong, why it matters to your business, and what it would cost to fix. We check the things that win or lose you customers: how you show up on Google (page titles, structure, schema, your Google Business Profile, local search), whether the site works properly on a phone, page speed, whether your contact form and enquiry emails are getting through, and the security basics. We are upfront about where it stops, too. It is a starter assessment, not deep keyword research, backlink analysis, or formal security testing. If you need a specialist for those, we will tell you.

My website already exists but isn’t bringing in work. Can you fix it instead of rebuilding?

Usually, yes. Most sites do not need rebuilding, they need specific things fixed: a broken contact form, slow load times, dated design, or missing local SEO. We only recommend a full rebuild when the existing site is beyond saving, and the audit will tell you honestly which camp you are in.

02

Cost and timeline

4 questions

How much does a website cost?

You will always know the exact number before any work starts. As a guide:

  • Targeted fixes from $1,450
  • Full optimisation of an existing site from $2,750
  • Brand-new WordPress build from $3,500
  • Optional ongoing care $79 a month

The free audit turns these guides into a fixed quote for your exact project, so there are no surprises.

What is included in the price?

Everything you need to go live. Depending on your package that means the design, the build, mobile setup, on-page SEO basics, contact forms, and the technical configuration to get the site working properly. You also get plain-English training so you can run it yourself afterwards. Your fixed quote spells out exactly what is and is not included before you commit.

How long does it take?

Most targeted fixes are done within one to two weeks. A full optimisation usually takes two to four weeks, and a new build three to six weeks depending on size and how quickly we get your content. You will get a clear timeline with your quote.

How do payments and deposits work?

We keep it simple and agree the terms in writing as part of your fixed quote, before any work starts. For most projects it is a 40% deposit to lock in the work, 30% at the draft review stage, and the final 30% once everything is live. Smaller jobs are often split 50/50. No surprises, and nothing is due until you have accepted the quote.

03

Platforms and ownership

6 questions

Will you work with my Wix, Squarespace, or Shopify site?

Yes. The free audit works on any platform, so we can review a Wix, Squarespace, or Shopify site and tell you honestly how it is doing. If it is serving you well, we will not push a rebuild: we can do an optimisation pass on what you already have. When a rebuild does make sense, we build on WordPress so the site is yours to keep, with no platform lock-in and nothing tying you to us. We will always tell you which path is better value, rather than defaulting to the biggest job.

Why should I choose you over Wix, Squarespace, or a cheap freelancer?

Page builders like Wix and Squarespace are quick to start but lock you into their system, and your site is hard to move if you outgrow them. A very cheap freelancer can leave you with no support and no idea what you actually own. Sitework Co builds on standard WordPress that is yours to keep, gives you a fixed quote up front, and explains everything in plain English. You get a properly built site without the lock-in or the mystery.

Do you build online stores or booking systems?

Yes, for straightforward stores and booking systems. We can add a simple online store, bookings or enquiries, and online payments to a WordPress site, and we are happy to improve an existing store on Shopify or similar. For large or complex e-commerce, we will be honest that it is not our core focus and point you toward a specialist who will do it better. Tell us what you need during the free audit and we will either include it in your quote or steer you the right way.

What platform do you build on, and why?

WordPress. It is the most widely used platform in the world, it is flexible, and crucially it means you are not tied to us or to any closed system. It is easy for you, or any other developer, to maintain, and it scales as your business grows.

Do I actually own my website?

Completely. You own your domain, your hosting, and your site. Everything is built on standard WordPress, so you are never locked into a proprietary platform or stuck with one provider. If you ever want to walk away, your site comes with you.

Do you lock me into a contract or a monthly retainer?

No. Sitework Co is project based. You pay for the work you agree to, and that is it. Ongoing maintenance is available if you want it, but it is optional and you can stop any time. No retainers, no lock-in contracts, no jargon.

04

Getting found on Google

3 questions

Do you do SEO?

Yes, the practical kind that gets small businesses found locally across Wollongong and the Illawarra: Google Business Profile setup, page titles and meta descriptions, schema markup, and local SEO basics. The goal is to get you in front of the customers searching in your area, not to chase vanity rankings.

Will my site show up on Google, and how long does SEO take?

We build the foundations that help you get found: a fast, mobile-friendly site, proper page titles and structure, schema, and a tuned Google Business Profile for local search. That sorts the technical groundwork most small sites are missing. Real ranking gains take time, though, usually a few months, and depend on your competition and how active your local presence is. Anyone promising overnight results or a guaranteed number-one ranking is selling you something. We focus on getting you visible to the people already searching for what you do in your area.

Will my website work properly on phones?

Yes. Every site is built to work and look right on phones and tablets, not just desktops. Most of your customers will find you on a phone, and Google ranks mobile-friendly sites higher, so this is built in from the start rather than bolted on later.

05

After launch and support

4 questions

What happens after my website goes live?

You get a proper handover, not radio silence. That means plain-English training so you can run the site yourself, and 30 days of post-launch support included with every fix and build, so any teething issues are sorted at no extra cost. After that, ongoing care is optional: from $79 a month we handle WordPress and plugin updates, backups, security monitoring, and small changes, with no lock-in, and you can stop any time. Either way, the site, domain, and hosting stay in your name. If something breaks down the track, reach out and we will sort it.

Do you handle hosting and setup?

Yes, we get it set up properly, but it stays yours. For a new build we set you up on quality Australian hosting, connect your domain, and handle the security and technical configuration. The difference is the hosting account stays in your name and you pay the provider directly: we do not resell hosting or sit in the middle, so you are never locked to us. You end up with a site that is live, fast, properly configured, and entirely yours, plus plain-English training so you know what you are looking at.

Can I update the website myself?

Yes. You get full admin access to your own site, and because it is built on standard WordPress, day-to-day changes like text, images, prices, or a new page are straightforward. We include plain-English training at handover, so you are not stuck working it out alone. If you would rather not touch it, an optional care plan covers small changes for you. The choice is always yours.

Do you write the content, or do I?

Mostly you provide the words and images, which keeps costs down and keeps the site sounding like you. If you are stuck, we can help you structure your content and tidy it up so it reads well and works for search. We agree exactly who is doing what before the build starts, so there are no gaps.
